A Day at The Circus: #5

“There is no greater picture than that of 10,000 smiling children. No brighter music than their clear-ringing laughter. That I, with my small amusements, have created such precious art is my life’s proudest achievement.”  PT Barnum, (1810-1891)

To read the full story behind this wearable art capsule collaboration with Double Stars, head back to the main Circus Capsule page. Below, you’ll find details on this particular neckace, A Day at the Circus #1 (limited edition of 6). The main photo at the top and the first 4 photos below are of this necklace. The last two photos show you the modular nature and the capsule mood image for the entire collection, but are NOT necessarily this necklace.

#5 features all of the common elements to the series: A unique scrap yarn crocheted textile base, approx. 46″, (this one features a rich off white, neon green, bling fiber), fixed pompoms, one removable pompom affixed to a hair barrette clip, a handmade Free Circus Animals pin badge, 1 bead-filled jelly bangle, 2 striped African jelly bangles made from recycled flip-flop, vintage plastic whistle, vintage plastic skull charm, Viewmaster reel from the series A Day at the Circus, c.1957, three antique mid-century circus animal toys in used condition: a kindly lion and the sweetest polka dotted pink giraffe. The necklaces with only two celluloid critters are priced a little lower. Note: Viewmaster viewer not included.

As with all of these necklaces, most of the bits ‘n pieces are removable and can be rearranged in any manner that suits you or left off completely, giving you a textile-only necklace and a pile of other fun stuff to play with and wear. Necklace can be worn long or cross-body, or shorter and doubled with a button/loop clasp. Crazy modularity!

Questions, please email. I would prefer that this very special piece not be shipped back and forth, so please get the answers you need to decide.

Small & Mighty Mended Heart #1

Don’t let the size fool you, this miniature mended heart is strong, resilient, and full of love. At just an inch tall and wide, the focal heart is made of vintage feedsack quilting scrap (1930s) and has a sweet rusted bell dangling from the bottom. The heart is two-sided / reversible, with purposely primitive stitches. Lovely, rare beads complete a carefully curated romantic tribal look that you’ll want to wear with everything, either alone or layered with other jewelry. The antique brass chain is delicate and 24″ long. I am happy to shorten it for you, just ask.

This particular purchase will be extra special; I will immediately donate $25 to this GoFundMe, set up to help the broken-hearted families of Uvalde, TX in their time of unimaginable tragedy.

Look for more Small & Mighty Mended Hearts coming soon. I’m hoping to be able to do more of these that will include the donation feature in the coming week.

The Collector: Bluebird of Happiness

If life is an endlessly fascinating curation of experience and memory, so your adornments must be. This is the second in what I believe will be a longer series for two reasons: 1. I loved making this. The quiet rhythm, the poetry, the intuition and counter-intuition of juxtaposing so much treasure. And, 2. I have more beads than any one human being should (by any measure) own, collected over decades and from around the globe.

This one of a kind strand, a soft baroque palette of mostly blues/pinks, is 46″ without a clasp and can be worn long, flapper-style, or looped twice over your head. Upon examination, and I hope you’ll examine it for years to come, you will find too many things to name, but here’s a partial list: glass Czeck bluebird, handsewn velvet heart, vintage wedding cake bead, bullet casing, memento mori ceramic skull, textiles including vintage millinery, stars, a rusted metal button from an archeological dig, raw ruby, rusted safety pin, tribal beads, and endless sparkle from divine glass beads. Last photos (with Magnolia Pearl jacket) will give you size and my styling context. But looks great with a shredded tee shirt too!

You’ve Got A Friend: Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Arlen Harold (Recorded by Judy Garland, 1938)

Each necklace in this series features a fun-lovin’ vintage Care Bear friend–ready to party in a cute party hat–surrounded by a deliciously sweet, super sparkly riot of vintage and new beads and charms (including a mememto mori vintage skull), all affixed to 19 inches of chunky candy-colored plastic chain and guaranteed to bring maximum joy to you and everyone you meet. Each is one of a kind, as pictured, and ready to come knockin’ on your door. The entire first series is also shown, other friends listed separately. Return to the Capsule collection page here.

PS: As an added love bonus, I’m including a free vintage Mardi Gras beaded necklace with each Friend necklace (very last picture). These are quite old and rare, probably dated mid-20th century, judging from the plastic and the colors. I’ll randomly choose one that will layer well with your Friend!

Please email me with any questions.

The Collector: Everything All at Once

If life is an endlessly fascinating curation of experience and memory, so your adornments must be. This is the first in what I believe will be a series for two reasons: 1. I loved making this. The quiet rhythm, the poetry, the intuition and counter-intuition of juxtaposing so much treasure. And, 2. I have more beads than any one human being should (by any measure) own, collected over decades and from around the globe.

This one of a kind strand, a symphony of neutrals, but only at first glance, is 76″ long and can be worn in many ways, from lengthy swingy flapper style to doubled, tripled and depending upon your neck size, even quadrupled (a tiny unobtrusive clasp allows this). Upon examination, and I hope you’ll examine it for years to come, you will find too many things to name, but here’s a partial list: tiny antiqued key and rusted bell charms, glass, clay, bone, actual bones (tiny fish and mammal vertebrae and other things), plastic, velvet millinery, sequins, raw rubies, stars. As in most of my work there is a small memento mori skullalong with much life, sparkle, and joy. The last photos provide some size context. Ancient cropped top is vintage, dress is by Yusho Kobayashi.

The Mended Heart #2

We stitch the dear tattered thing together, its mends and scars our memory-badges of love, honor, strength, loss, pain, resilience and joy. Who amongst us doesn’t carry a precious version of this story?

The Mended Heart necklaces are evocative one of a kind treasured heirlooms, crafted with a curation of ancient and new materials gathered across decades and continents. Materials may be frayed, and all sewing is purposefully primitive and imperfect.

The readymade necklace pictured here is available as shown and includes: vintage Victorian crazy quilt heart focal (late 1800s), satin ribbon, vintage global beads  (bone, horn, glass, clay), a vintage archeological military button, vintage millinery supply and a special vintage numbered French laundry tag. A small piece of ancient genuine keyhole hardware hangs from the bottom of the heart focal and a tiny rusted safety pin adorns the back. Made to be worn long, each necklace is a fixed length (+/- 34″) that falls below the breast. Hearts range from 3-4″ including dangling charm at bottom. I can provide a precise measurement and may be able to shorten, but not lengthen the cord. The last photo provides a sense of scale and context when worn.

ALSO AVAILABLE by request: Custom Mended Heart

I also offer customized heirloom Mended Heart necklaces that include similar supplies and treatments, but also can incorporate treasures of your own. These should be small items (like those you see on the readymades), in keeping with the overall aesthetic, and must be able to be readily sewn into place, either on the heart’s front or back, or on the necklace ribbon/cording. Examples that can work are small buttons, scraps of fabric, small charms or keys. If you’d like a necklace customized, we’ll have an email convo to discuss details and review items you might wish to include. Snapshots of your supplies can also help in assessing feasibility. I can start with a quilt scrap of yours or utilize one from my collection and can let you know what’s available at the time of inquiry.

Finally, a small amount of beloved human or animal ash remains can be tucked and sewn into a customized heart, permanently and I’ll guide you through these requirements.

Dreamland: Annual Adventure

The stuff of dreams:

Brutal hot mid-western August day: We pile into father’s ’55 T-Bird, tumble out at the State Fair, and the Annual Adventure of Our Lives begins. Sister has the skate key so that we can sail and glide across the steaming black asphalt… from the midway to the thrill-rides and  farm buildings, jam-packed with 4H teenagers, chickens, pigs, sheep and goats, stinky in the heat but we don’t mind. Rumor has it there was a brief appearance of aliens at the Fair one year, and sister swore she saw a UFO the night before when she looked out our bedroom window just before midnight. We do not believe her, though we shiver at the thought. Probably just a shooting star, we say, streaking across the sky as we slept dreaming of hot miniature fried donuts, covered in sugar and cinnamon.

The Dreamland necklaces are delicate poems of another time (past or future), crafted with a curation of ancient and new materials gathered across decades and continents. On this necklace you will find a feedsack quilt scrap heart, Czech glass beads, a skate key charm, a memeto mori ceramic skull, vintage dice, velvet milinery flowers, and potentially a space ship, but that can not be verified. Please note: ’55 T-Bird not included; you’ll need your own ride to the Fair.

The readymade necklace pictured here is available as shown and ready to ship. It is one continuous length (approx. 52″) knotted on silk cord and can be worn long or doubled.

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

e. e. cummings

This tiny wearable work of art includes a Victorian brass hand, a blue Czech glass heart, and many tiny vintage and new glass beads. The frame is 2 5/8″ x 1 1/2″ and has been hand-treated with grunge and a beautiful patina. Strung on a copper chain that is 24″ with lobster clasp. The back has been texturally treated with embedded treasure as shown. Although these pieces are crafted for stability, there is a certain inherent fragility in the tiny glass bits and pieces; if dropped or banged breakage could occur. For that reason, I do recommend wearing these shorter, on the flat upper part of the chest. Please let me know if you’d like the length adjusted at time of purchase.

ee cummings was one of the first poets I ever read; I’ve loved his work since I was a very young girl. Carry the hearts of all those you love, including your own dear heart.

When not being worn, this piece would be happily stored on your wall, or in the lovely box it will ship in.

Priscilla Sugar Skull

Priscilla often felt a bit sheepish for no real reason. She was essentially a good girl, just prone to getting into mother’s things from time to time and slashing them to bits. Priscilla simply requires appreciation.

Handcarved and hand painted day of the dead sugar skull bead. Made from glimmery pearlescent clay, each comes with a tattered mourning bow and dangling charm (Priscilla’s is a vintage channel-set iridescent swarovski crystal because she’s fancy that way). Skulls are decorated front, sides and back. 16″ black chain.

OOAK, ready to ship.

Remember to click on photos below to enlarge. Last photo shows the first sugar skull collection in its entirety; listing is for Priscilla only.

Millicent Sugar Skull

Don’t let her charming exterior fool you, Millicent is a vicious gossip and horrible speller. She would like to find an avid listener who can provide correction.

Handcarved and hand painted day of the dead sugar skull bead. Made from glimmery pearlescent clay, each comes with a tattered mourning bow and dangling charm (Millicent’s is a caged pearl). Skulls are decorated front, sides and back. 16″ black chain.

SALE: The Mischievous Princess, was $85

To the great frustration of her mother the Queen, her playful desire to cause trouble often found the Princess dismembering her dollies… fashioning them into necklaces and other fripperies.

Delightful and wickedly sweet necklace brings together an ancient ceramic doll leg (with a little painted shoe!), a tattered bit of black mourning ribbon and a lovingly aged verdigris crown charm. Delicate glass pearl rosary chain in a pale gray-blue adds a mystical touch. I think you could get into a bit of mischief in this gothic little piece.

One of a kind, ready to ship.

Write Yr Story (Verdigris + Rose)

The shape of this ornament is the Talhakimt (also known as Tanfouk). This circle-with-downward-arrow is an ancient form of money in West Africa and is also worn as adornment–necklaces and braided into the hair–as a protective or fertility amulet.

I have my own theory. The wearer of these earrings shall have her creativity gathered up into the small circle so that it can sparkle and flow outward into the world through the point of the arrow. Yes, write your own story.

These started as vintage old-stock shiny gold dapped brass charms and then underwent my special alchemy process to produce a beautiful patina on the surface. Currently, two pair of these earrings are being offered, the more neutral black/bronze with vintage black diamond teardrop-shaped rhinestones and the verdigris patina which will show colors ranging from turquoise to green, bronze and back again, with palest dusky rose round faceted vintage rhinestones.

THIS LISTING is for the exact verdigris pair that is pictured in the first 3 images. The bronze pair is pictured to help you see the amazing detail achieved in the finishes.

Super lightweight, though look incredibly substantial, and come with brass leverbacks as shown. If you prefer wires, let me know and I can switch them out.

I’ve been wearing them every day, I can’t stop!

Shipwrecked

Scattered across the ocean floor, there are more than 300 million shipwrecks, containing billions of dollars worth of cargo. I imagine this bracelet might have been made of the scavenged remains of some lost pirate ship.

A fired clay focal with amazing silver metallic finish flashes hints of aqua and fuchsia… with a raised bumpy pattern in matte mustard. Trust me, it’s really one of the coolest objects I’ve ever seen. Sits beautifully on the wrist with vintage industrial steel chain, forged hook, and clasp made from old kuchi finding that has two ruby/glass stones. A fantastic verdigris crust has been applied.

This bracelet wants to fit you perfectly… loose enough for comfort but not so loose as to roll around the wrist. I will finish it to your measurement at purchase; and please email if you have any questions.

Absolutely a divine, artful, strangely evocative, one of a kind object d’art.

Cherubim

Cherubim first appear in the Bible in the Garden of Eden, to guard the way to the Tree of life.

They first appear in chapter one, when Ezekiel was “by the river Chebar,” In chapter 10, Exekiel saw “the likeness of four living creatures.” Each of them had four faces and four wings, with straight feet that had soles like a calf’s foot, and “hands of a man” under their wings. Each had four faces: the face of a man, the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and the face of an eagle.

I don’t know what Ezekiel was on, and these gorgeous earrings aren’t quite so psychedelic, but they are sweet, lovely and playfully odd all the same. Created from thrifted gold and pearl earrings that could be 80’s or older, heavily encrusted with many layers of verdigris patina over a period of weeks, and then embellished with very rare pink Czech glass beads that feature tiny iridescent dimples. These are just so sweet, like a cupcake and perhaps you’d like to have a pair of Cherubim guarding your way to the Tree of Life.

The ear nuts were long gone and after much research I’ve decided upon a style to include… they are rubber with a wider pad that holds the earring in place and spreads the weight on your lobe in a very comfy manner. These are not heavy and the ear nut makes them adjustable for perfect fit.

Absolutely one of a kind! Remember to click on images below to enlarge.

Sale: Worldbeat, were $48

The best things happen when worlds collide, elements from far flung continents come together with a strange disparate harmony. This curation features strange little tribal stoppers (gilded by me) and tiny vinyl disc sequin beads from West Africa, with faceted Czech Reupublic glass and twinkling Swarovski rhinestones. Hottest fuchsia, coolest turquoise and just enough sparkle. This gypsy has wandered the globe!

One of a kind, always.

Sale: February, were $72

Birthstone of February, purple amethyst speaks of peace, temperance, serenity and royalty. Wearing this stone may protect you from the effects of drunkenness.

You will go in peace in this pair of gorgeous distressed verdigris earrings. As for the whole thing about protection from drunkenness… don’t hold me to that, ok? Created from patinated vintage (probably 60’s) floral brass findings with faux amethyst stones in deepest purple a’twinkling and a simply gorgeous pair of handcrafted verdigris pewter leaf charms, these are truly one of a kind in the bohemian style. Archeological and royal, for your romantic gypsy spirit.

It’s ok, btw, to purchase these if you were born in May, September or August. But not March or July. JUST KIDDING! IT’S OK!!! Really!

French ear wires, ready to ship.

Constraint

Idle youth,
Subservient to everything,
I have frittered away my life
Through gentleness.
Ah! may the time come
When hearts will meet!

Arthur Rimbaud, from Song of the Highest Tower

Earrings which seem to exercise little to no restraint in design, materials, and presentation. Are you that sort of girl (or boy)? Elements include beautiful fired clay charms by Scorched Earth with gold leaf embellishment, vintage and newer beads (Czech, Indonesian, Swarovski) and the most amazing vintage rhinestone post earrings which have been distressed with black patina. Tribal elegance, gypsy romance, even wedding appropriate.

One of a kind. The vintage posts did not come with ear nuts. I researched and tested many types and settled on clear rubber stoppers with a wider base as the most comfortable and secure backings available.

French Circus

The kids will sure come running
from every part of town,
with laughs and shouts aplenty
when the circus comes to town.

A brass band marches up the street,
the calliope will sound,
everyone will hear it
when the circus comes to town.

Lots of elephants and lions
with acrobats and clowns,
loads of fun for everyone
when then circus comes to town.

Large bales of cotton candy
and peanuts by the pound,
corn dogs on a wooden stick
when the circus comes to town.

“Oh Mama, is it bed-time yet?
Please turn my covers down.
I want to wake up early
when the circus comes to town.”

A brilliant curated circus of amazing beads and findings make up these perfectly asymmetrical bohemian gypsy earrings. Elements and techniques include gold leaf, verdigris patina on vintage charms, African, Czech and Indonesian beads, beautiful faceted labradorite, hand-soldered headpins, wire and love. Small french ear wires.

One of a kind, ready to ship.

Archeology Series #003

Archaeology Series 003: the study of human activity in the past, primarily through the recovery and analysis of the material culture and environmental data left behind, including artifacts, architecture, biofacts and cultural landscapes.

Wearable archeology for your ears feature a precious asymmetrical curation of elements: a tiny vintage watch key (numbered 11, very faintly), a vintage floral finding with softest pink opal stone, and a very vintage dangly ring + clear glass bugle bead. Everything has been hand-aged with verdigris patina to produce lovely and varying blue/green shades. With elongated rhinestoned brass kidney-shaped ear wires, these have a sparkly delicate Victorian bohemian appeal.

Rock these versatile earrings with just about anything, from shredded jeans to steampunk gear.

One of a kind and ready to ship.

Azure & Gold

April had covered the hills
With flickering yellows and reds,
The sparkle and coolness of snow
Was blown from the mountain beds.

Across a deep-sunken stream
The pink of blossoming trees,
And from windless appleblooms
The humming of many bees.

The air was of rose and gold
Arabesqued with the song of birds
Who, swinging unseen under leaves,
Made music more eager than words.

Of a sudden, aslant the road,
A brightness to dazzle and stun,
A glint of the bluest blue,
A flash from a sapphire sun.

–Amy Lowell

Delightfully decadent and decayed bohemian earrings of azure and gold feature loveliest fired clay fossil drops with crackle turquoise glaze and crusty gold leaf dangling from sparkly vintage swarovski flowers, tarnished with verdigris patina. The sky, the sun, the ocean, and sunken treasure are evoked in this pair of tiny post-apocalyptic poems.

One of a kind, ready to ship. Brasslever back earrings.

The Sight of the Stars

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

Vincent Van Gogh

These earrings will give you extra eyes to see the stars. A pair of gorgeous archeological (handcrafted/new) pewter charms with a faint eye symbol on each, dangles from vintage earring findings (converted from screwbacks), probably from the 60’s. Lovely faceted glass (maybe high quality plastic) starry blue stones.

Hippie festival girl boho chic, can be dressed up or worn everyday.

To see, to dream of starry nights.

Dream within a Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow–
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

–from Dream within a Dream, Edgar Allen Poe

Dreamy bohemian asymmetrical baroque earrings for day or night feature incredible glass and semi-precious stone bead curation, tiny bone bead, sequins, hand patina’d and gold leafed findings and two amazing charms. The rounded charm/bead is Ethiopian, the other is of unknown age and origin. From the style and the way it is made I’m placing it between 1920-40. These have a most delicate color palette of rust, brass, bronze, rose, cream and palest hints of blue. Put them on for very special occasions or rock them every day like the romantic gypsy you are.

Brass leverbacks, decidedly one of a kind.

The Duel

At the choice of the offended party, the duel could be fought to a number of conclusions:

–To first blood, in which case the duel would be ended as soon as one man was wounded, even if the wound was minor.

–Until one man was so severely wounded as to be physically unable to continue the duel.

–To the death (or “à l’outrance”), in which case there would be no satisfaction until one party was mortally wounded.

–In the case of pistol duels, each party would fire one shot. If neither man was hit and if the challenger stated that he was satisfied, the duel would be declared over.

I declared this duel over when a lovely raw quartz crystal point became forever joined with a rich patina’d bullet casing and then dangled from an elegant vintage brass finding. I’m not sure if this finding is truly ancient or (as I suspect) if it is a revival piece, but it is old, and it is exquisite. Lots of filigree, faux turquoise stone, and five marcasite gems that sparkle and catch light beautifully. Truly one of a kind.

Currently, this necklace is very long, on delicate brass chain with a lobster clasp. I can make it any length you want, just send me an email.

Remember to click on photos below to enlarge.

A Certain Tendency

She had a certain tendency.

Exquisitely asymmetrical vintage tribal earrings feature tarnished and hand-gilded chandelier findings, specially curated beaded hoops, rare antiqued bone dice from Africa, faceted Czech rondelle in amazing turquoise with Picasso finish, and fantastical hand-crafted and mismatched striped clay fired spikes. Longish, playful and unique.

French ear wires, ready to ship, one of a kind.

Carnival of Souls

Don a mask, rule the festivities, and play any part you choose… YOU are Queen of the Carnival of Souls! Dangling earrings with a spectacular curation of rich verdigris brass, faceted Czech glass beads, rhinestone encrusted squaredelle findings, rare striped Indonesian glass, and two tiny charms; a very old African bead, and a crusty brass heart. Lots of gypsy boho sparkle, happy color (almost neon in places), and truly one of a kind.

Brass leverback ear wires can be changed out if you prefer wires.

Across the Universe

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe

–Lennon/McCartney

Light breaks beautifully in tiny rainbows from the vintage swarovski gems incorporated in these earrings. And that, I think is a great contrast to the earthy verdigris patina applied to the brass stampings and the dangling rustic chains. These are lightweight, one of a kind, and ready to adorn you!

Earwires can be replaced with leverbacks if you prefer, just email.

The Queen’s Army

The Queen is the only person to declare war and peace. This dates back from when the Monarch was responsible for raising, maintaining and equipping the Army and Navy. I think these days though, there are other individuals and groups declaring war from time to time. With lovely crown-shaped chandelier findings, patina’d and gold-leafed by hand, a curation of simply gorgeous beads and bones, asymmetrical dangles including a tiny punk rock safety pin charm, a ruby encrusted gem and a black glass faceted channel set stone… these slightly outsized earrings will rock out any mission you embark upon. Elegant, bohemian, and badass, somehow at the same time.

Lightweigh, long kidney wires, can be swapped out for shorter leverbacks, just email me.

Titanica

On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic embarked on its maiden voyage, sailing from Southampton, England, to New York City. One of the largest and most luxurious passenger liners at the time, the Titanic was also considered by many to be unsinkable. On April 14, however, the ship struck an iceberg, and early the next day it sank. Some 1,500 people perished. Because of the tragedy, the Titanic became perhaps the best-known ship in the world, capturing the public imagination and inspiring popular books and movies. After the 1985 discovery of its wreckage, interest in the famed liner only increased. Some 100 years after its sinking, the Titanic remains an enduring legend.

While I don’t wish in any way to glamorize that tragic event, I can really see these earrings on Kate Winslet as she stares lovingly into Leonardo Dicaprio’s eyes. This pair, seemingly dug from the wreckage of the ill-fated ship, are especially fetching with serious patina crust on amazing brass bead caps, chalcedony facets peeking out below, gorgeous rhinestone squardelles, and my signature curation of tiny glass beaded rings. These are just neutral enough to wear with almost everything (including denim), though as you can see, there’s really nothing neutral about these romantic bohemian baubles.

Medium weight, with brass leverbacks and one of a kind.

Ethnographica 2

Adventurer earrings that feature heavily distressed vintage Afghani findings and truly vibrant neon acid yellow tassels encased in filigree. Bohemian chic that would look great with gauzy summer whites and warm winter wools, or just your basic T and jeans. These are made of unknown metals with non-precious stones. Medium weight with ear-wires are thicker than Western gauge (but wearable by anyone). Imperfections abound and are part of the charm.

Go tribal.

No. 447

Evocative archeology. Gorgeously distressed amazing brass bead caps hold sparkly Czech glass faceted rondelles… in a color I just can’t describe.. very delicate, like minty lemonade, translucent with a mysterious cloudiness. Indonesian glass beads, buffalo bone, vintage etched Czech flowers, and vintagesque rhinestone dangles create a tribal Victorian bohemian vibe. Copper lever backs. For your gypsy soul.

Sale: Elemental, were $48

Thoughts give birth to a creative force that is neither elemental nor sidereal. Thoughts create a new heaven, a new firmament, a new source of energy, from which new arts flow. When a man undertakes to create something, he establishes a new heaven, as it were and from it the work that he desires to create flows into him. For such is the immensity of man that he is greater than heaven and earth.

Philipus Aureolus Paracelsus (1493 – 1541)

Seriously, all of that aside, I’d LIVE in these earrings. Victorian tribal bohemian elementals that feature unusual carved bone beads (and this is the only pair I seem to have) with black bone rings and smokey fiery faceted Czech glass… shifting and changes a glittery essence depending upon lighting conditions. Like you, right?

Rock Steady

///What it is! Rock steady baby…///

These earrings are part tribal, part rockabilly, and all cooler than cool. Distressed brass, fabulous rhinestoned elongated ear wires, curated vintage and new bohemian glass beads. With loveliest rare vintage caged dice and tattoo swallow charms. Oh, and teensy little jacks dangles that are seriously playful.

Aren’t these just… everything!

Everlasting

I don’t think of the past. The only thing that matters is the everlasting present.
W. Somerset Maugham (1874 – 1965), The Moon and Sixpence

Prettiest earrings feature a special curation of vintage and new bohemian glass beads and bone, distressed wire, verdigris brass findings and genuine raw ruby dangles. Victorian with a touch of tribal, a sprinkling of gypsy. These will be everlasting, I promise.

Claude Moth

Claude Moth is ready to alight, a small friend to keep you company. Best of all, he does NOT eat wool, although would appreciate a small bread crumb from time to time. Claude is an especially thoughtful little guy who who loves to paint in soft colors. In fact, he resembles a painting by his very favorite artist and namesake, Claude Monet! He has been fashioned entirely by hand from vintage reclaimed tin; cut from a pattern, riveted together, and then given a special patina for a rustic aged appearance.

Claude Moth is one of a kind and ready to fly home to you on a delicate brass chain, at the length of your choosing (see last photo for example). Please specify length when you purchase (I recommend shorter length so he sits against your upper chest), a lobster clasp is included.

Please note: Although the moth necklaces are truly adorable, and are carefully filed and sanded, I do not consider them appropriate for children.

Poison Strawberry

I wouldn’t make jam from this beautiful wicked berry, unless you are planning to murder your guests at tea. They are poison! Death is swift, but pleasant as the fruit has a sweet tart flavor unlike any berry of its species. I discovered these dangerous jewels in Persia, where they have been grown since the 17th century. Alas, the velvety pillows make far better necklaces than food, and about this I beg you… please simply trust me.

This is the last of a pair of these necklaces, the other is sold. Features glittering faceted glass bead, deepest red velvety heart that appears quilted, and antiqued copper findings. Designed to be worn long on a delicate continuous antiqued copper chain, please specify length when you purchase. Perfect for vampires as well as regular folk.

One of a kind, ready to ship.

Belle Epoque

La Belle Epoque, occurring during the era of the Third French Republic (Beginning 1870), was a period characterized by optimism, peace at home and in Europe, new technology and scientific discoveries. The peace and prosperity in Paris allowed the arts to flourish, and many masterpieces of literature, music, theater, and visual art gained recognition. The Belle Époque was named, in retrospect, when it began to be considered a golden age in contrast to the horrors of World War I.

Most beautiful earrings created from large vintage hand-gilded brass tulip caps, vintage pale lavender faceted glass crystal findings, and a pair of raw garnet gemstones. The garnets cast lovely reds when light passes through. Patina and metal leaf have been sealed. Hand-forged rustic ear wires.
