Demitasse

As lovely as a cup of sweetened creamy tea, this vintage 1950’s nylon blouse is SO current again. Machine embroidered details as shown, very sheer and would look darling over a neon bra or cami as pictured. Peter Pan collar includes a dear little secret button. Super puffy sleeves. Color is a pale creamy beige. These blouses, once readily available, are becoming scarce, so here’s a chance to own a demure piece of history. This blouse fits both the model (size 4) and me (size 6-8 with 36 chest). Might be too small on larger/bustier size 8 and would not likely fit size 10. I’d rock this with a pair of distressed denims or a high-waisted pencil skirt. Mmmm hmmmmm.

Condition: Great condition, has tons of life left. With vintage clothing of this age (60+ years old) please expect some imperfections.

Shipping: Much harder to estimate shipping on clothing and accessories than jewelry. If you are overcharged by more than $2, I will refund your PayPal account when I get back from the PO.

Returns: I want you to be happy and buying clothing without trying on first can be a challenge. If item arrives and doesn’t fit, AND you email me within 3 days of reciept, I will accept a return. You’ll have to cover return shipping. When item arrives, and providing it is in the same condition as when it left here, I will refund via PayPal minus shipping. Shipping to you will not be refunded.

Sale: Hot Tomato

Some high platforms, your hair a calculated mess, your eyes a smokey smudge from last night’s party… you are ONE HOT TOMATO in this  vintage glam early-mid 1960’s red leather jacket. Makes me think of the fashion in Crossfire Hurricane, recently viewed on HBO… a documentary on the Stones. A little naughty, but verrrry nice, this historical hottie has survived many decades in tact and is ready to take you everywhere. I actually have a second one of these and I layer it with a hoodie in winter… wear it on its own spring and fall. Endless wear and always looks amazing.

This is a size 6-8, might work on a size 4, but no smaller. Dressmaker dummy is my size (6-8). Length is perfect, hits at upper thigh. The color is somewhere between deep reddish orange and deep orangey red… it really depends upon the light. Closes with three early plastic faux marbelized buckles and has side pockets. Back photos show a favorite detail, the collar finishes in a small point… Western? Goth? Either/both, but so divine.

Condition: Used and worn and perfectly broken in as seen in photos. Has tons of life left. If you want it cleaner, take to professional drycleaner and/or treat carefully with leather conditioner. BOTH pockets need to bet stitched back up on inside, an easy job for anyone. Price is based on serious rarity and badass nature of this piece… I mean come on… a tough RED leather jacket that is 50 years old from a badass era?

Shipping: Much harder to estimate shipping on clothing and accessories than jewelry. If you are overcharged by more than $2, I will refund your PayPal account when I get back from the PO.

Returns: I want you to be happy and buying clothes without trying on first can be a challenge. If item arrives and doesn’t fit, AND you email me within 3 days of reciept, I will accept a return. New York Harajuku

Absolutely cutest and snuggliest handcrafted (not by me) hoodie EVER. Love love love this piece, but it was too small when I bought it and magically enough STILL too small. 🙁 My loss, your gain. Acquired from a crafts fair, this handmade item is skillfully designed and sewn with handprinted New York City fleece, dusky rose fleece, and faux fur lining the hood. Adorable red trim around side pockets. BOO HOO, I love this cozy warm number.

Would best fit a size 2-4, up to 34 chest. Just the right length to hit the top of your jeans and looks adorable paired with Harajuku Cupcake skirt as shown, sold separately. Purchase these two garments together and get $15 back to your PayPal. How tempting is that???? This piece can also be rocked in more sophiste way with your skinny denim or a pencil skirt or just go full on lolita lollipop and enjoy yo’self. Sleeves have a little xtra length, hipster-style.

Condition: New, barely worn condition. Price is about half the original.

Shipping: Much harder to estimate shipping on clothing and accessories than jewelry. If you are overcharged by more than $2, I will refund your PayPal account when I get back from the PO.

Returns: I want you to be happy and buying clothing/accessories without trying on first can be a challenge. Harajuku Cupcake

I fell in love with Japanese Harajuku style many years ago via the publication of the book, Fruits. If you haven’t seen it… run do not walk to get yourself a copy. There is also a second volume out, but I love the first best. The parade of lollipop color and toothache sweet dollbaby costuming continues in the famed district and has washed upon these shores, most particularly Best Coast. Here is my handcrafted Cupcake skirt; I don’t think I can wear it anymore tho I love it dearly, it’s time for it to find a new home. Won’t you take this sugar out for a spin? Created from several garments, the bottom layer is a very vintage slip poking out and giving it lots of poof… the top is stretchy tshirt fabric in black/white stripes and there’s vintage ball fringe in bright green and NEON yellow.

This will best fit a size 4-6, up to smallish 8. Wear it short n’ sassy on its own, or layer over another longer skirt as I did for a (potentially) more mature version of the look. Works in all seasons, all terrains! Shown here paired with handcrafted New York hoodie, sold separately. BUT, buy both together and recieve a $15 refund to your PayPal account upon purchase. You know you want to!

Condition: Vintage materials, so not perfect, but great condition. There may be a little fringe ball missing here or there but doesn’t detract in the slightest.

Shipping: Much harder to estimate shipping on clothing and accessories than jewelry. If you are overcharged by more than $2, I will refund your PayPal account when I get back from the PO.

Returns: I want you to be happy and buying clothing/accessories without trying on first can be a challenge. Sale: Velvet Goldmine

A romantic pairing of goods, being sold together b/c I can’t bear to separate them. I’ve had this amazing vintage velvet handbag for about a million years. Although it has a truly 40’s vibe, I believe from the label that it is a 70’s era 40’s-revival. So, that means it’s only about 50+ years old (!). Deep rust color with a lovely tortoise shell frame and wonderful clasp. See photo with hand for size reference.

The other piece is a necklace I purchased from New Orleans etsy seller Bayou Salvage, whose shop seems to be down or I’d provide a link. Her work is lovely and, I believe, was at one time carried by anthropolgie. This necklace is a very dear construction of leather and scrap, including pieces of a crazy quilt. Silver chain, about 18 inches, but email me to confirm.

If you’re a romantic modern urban vintage type, or maybe a glam-inspired girl, these precious goodies are just your thing. Great for all seasons with your winter woolens or summer linens. A steal at this price and would make a lovely holiday gift package for someone special, including YOU!

Condition: Both pieces are in excellent perfect shape. The purse IS vintage, but with no flaws and clasp works well. Necklace is tattery, but that’s the style.

Shipping: Much harder to estimate shipping on clothing and accessories than jewelry. If you are overcharged by more than $2, I will refund your PayPal account when I get back from the PO.

Returns: This pairing is final sale since you don’t need to try these pieces on. Email me if you have any questions, ok?

Technicolor Smile

When you’re smiling
When you’re smiling
The whole world smiles with you
When you’re laughing
When you’re laughing
The sun comes shining thru

But when you’re crying
You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing be happy again
Keep on smiling
‘Cause when you’re smiling
The whole world smiles with you

Song by Larry Shay, Mark Fisher, & Joe Goodwin, and made famous by Louis Armstrong, who recorded it at least three times, in 1929, 1932, and 1956. There are many other famous recordings of this song.

Earrings that will make you smile, hence making the whole world smile with you, feature eclectic gypsy tribal bead collection (Africa and elsewhere), reclaimed hardware, ancient and sparkly chandelier crystals, brilliant color, wire-work, and one adorable glass Czech smiley face. Asymmetrical shoulder dusters, one of a kind, and ready to ship.

Home Sweet Home

Under My House
by Melvin Tuttlefield

there is dirt
under my house
deep down
way down
under there, somewhere

I saw it once
before the house was built
and the land was empty
except for the
wild brown grasses and weeds
and the bugs and the sticks
and the kids who would play
and the neighbor man
who’d chase them out

they’d run home dirty
from the dirt
that’s under the house

Rustic gypsy brooch made from hand-cut and sanded reclaimed tin, with delightful dangles: a ceramic tooth and vintage charms/beads and patina’d to a primitive state. A sweet but ominous assemblage full of wistful memory. This brooch is fairly lightweight, but would still be best on a jacket or sweater rather than thinner fabrics. Not appropriate for children. One of a kind and ready to ship.

Note: The mannequin hand is life-sized, average woman, for reference.

SALE: Lilly Bleu

Sale: $28, was $38

Dearest vintage inspired baroque fleurs bring together unexpected shades of dusty pink and cloudy blue. Extremely rare enameled pink flower finding, striated blue faceted quartz, tiny glass pearls and brass embellishments as shown includikng leverback earrings. These go with an amazing number of outfits (look great with denim) and give me a wistful dream of Paris, so I made a pair for myself. This is the last pair of these.

Miss Ruby Pink

Party girl earrings that are playful and elegant, on elongated gold vermeil wires. Hottest pink faceted candy jade (almost neon, can’t be captured by a camera!) are tempered by sweet tiny faceted genuine rubies in a soft pomegranate shade. Enough sparkle for dress-up, but still wearable for every day. I truly love these! One of a kind, ready to ship.

Dirty Little Girl

She liked to play with old things, up in the attic all alone.

Hand tarnished vintage findings come together into a delightfully distressed, sweetly decayed presentation. Softest baby pink and blue vintage glass dangles, with brass mesh bows.

For broken dolls and fallen princesses everywhere.

Last pair, as pictured.

Candy in the Garden

Mom plants tulips in our front garden while I stand by, sucking on a hard candy harvested from the depths of her enormous handbag. Citrus flavors pucker my mouth, orange and lemon, a hint of cherry. Mom turns, wipes a stray hair from her eyes and says: these will be lovely next spring.

Truly gorgeous handcrafted paper mache beads with an unlikely combination of vintage enameled flower findings (60’s) and brilliant tangerine glass faceted beads. These will make you feel happy, I promise!

Last pair, as pictured.
